Job Requirements & Duties

  • Provide front line/direct support for the apiculture sector in the province
  • Advise beekeepers on specialized production practices
  • Promote and develop the goals, mandate and objectives of the provincial government
  • Advise on key issues regarding honey bee health, production and other honey bee issues
  • Conduct hive health inspections
  • Assist in the implementation of legislation related to honey bee health and protection
  • Consult on the development of strategic opportunities for the agriculture sector
  • Evaluate and provide advice on proposals and business plans submitted by commercial beekeepers
  • Initiate, develop and deliver workshops and other information sessions to the beekeeping community in the province

Education & Training

  • To work in a management or research position, a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, animal bioscience, biology, or entomology is likely required.
